loganMaurie Roy's grandfather was Sam Logan from Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. This featured history describes that family and something of its origins.

Featured Most Wanted

Our earliest Roy ancestor is James Roy born about 1830-1840 and possibly from Belfast. There is a photo (illustrated) found in his grandson Sam's collection of a John Roy. Sam's father Thomas died when he was only 3 weeks old. Was he an uncle or great uncle of Sam's who took some interest in Sam?
Compare this with James Roy in our Roy_misc collection, born about 1840, has a father and brother both named John. There is a lot more information about his ancestors.
I am tempted to link these two families but would like a little more evidence.
