It seems that a number of people who register with the site never log in. It is important to understand that the act of registering does not in itself give you access to privileged information. The first thing that must happen is that your registration application needs to be edited to grant you such privileges as access to information about living people. This may take some time - see the page about the registration process. The second thing is that you must log in with your username and password. So, assuming you have registered, let's have a look at the processes:
Logging in
- Click on the login link near the top right of every page. You will be taken to the form illustrated at right.
- Fill in your username and password.
- I suggest you select "Stay logged in on this computer" unless other people who should not have access to privileged information have access to your comouter. This creates a "cookie" that will remember your details and you will be automatically logged on each time you open RRFL
- Click Login.
Forgot your username or password?
- To retrieve your user name, type in the e-mail address you put in your registration in the E-mail Address block.
- Click on "Go" next to your e-mail address and you should see a message indicating that your username has been e-mailed to you. This is automated and should take only a minute or two to get to your e-mail in-box.
If you have forgotten your password, you cannot retirieve it. What you can do is ask for a temporary one.
- Type in the e-mail address you put in your registration in the first box and your username in the box below it.
- Click on "Go" next to your username and you should see a message indicating that a temporary password has been e-mailed to you. This is automated and should take only a minute or two to get to your e-mail in-box.
- When you log-in you will be asked to change your password.
Resetting your password
You can at any time change your password by ticking the "Reset your password" box after filling in your username and current password.
