treeThere is more than one tree in this database. The button illustrated at right gives you the option of choosing a tree or "All trees". It appears on some pages only.

There are four trees:

  1. Roy~Royes - the main database
  2. Scandinavian Sagas... distinguishing myth from history. It has been suggested that these are part of the Normandy dukes pedigree but they are not historical figures - or if they were, we have no information about them and they may not have been linked as parent-child.
  3. Roy - misc... Roy data that does not (yet) link into Roy~Royes. These are names I have come across in the course of doing research and look as if they might be of interest. By putting them on the web I hope to invite comment.
  4. Royes - misc... Royes data that does not (yet) link into Roy~Royes. These are names I have come across in the course of doing research and look as if they might be of interest. By putting them on the web I hope to invite comment.

The default tree is Roy~Royes. NOTE: The search boxes on the home page will search Roy~Royes only. The only way to search trees other than Roy~Royes is to use the Search button under a page's heading (except the Home page), or from the Find drop-down menu. "Tree" is the first item for setting search criteria and is by default set to Roy~Royes. In the sample given, note (in the right hand column) that the results are from different trees.

NOTE: TNG also provides for "branches". These are not "trees". You will sometimes see branches identified beside a person's ID on the person's individual page.
