- I completed National Service with the British Army 1948-1950 serving in the Middle East on the Suez Canal. In 1952 the Australian Army was recruiting volunteers in the UK and I became one of them, arriving in Australia in December 1952. I was posted to the Royal Australian Survey Corps where I was trained to be a Topographical Surveyor.
I married Myrtle Johnson in 1955 and we had 9 children 5M 4F (the eldest one was actually my stepson). I finally left the army in 1976 having reached the rank of WO1 and refusing a commission.
I have lived in BENDIGO, VICTORIA since being posted there in 1967.
