    Notes
    • Of Ash. Owned Barton manor but on his death having no male heirs, the manor passed to brother Charles
      A draper of London
Inherited Barton Court 6 March 1699, Lands at Woodnesborough, Eastry.
Freeman of City of Canterbury 1702
Administrator for estate of brother John.
Buried chancel of St Marys Sandwich
Irelands History has him as son of William and Susan Clark.
Barton Court passed to brother Charles

He did inherit and reside in Barton Court but according to Uncle Solomon's will 1697 only male heirs could inherit it " reaching down or across 10 generations or moves - the eldest always preferred first". So as Solomon only had 3 daughters - no males - he could not retain it. So it passed to his brother Charles who by now had a son Charles who was next heir . - Marion Hurley Pratt

The fact that Charles "became heir to his brother Solomon, who had inherited Langport from the Sheriff, in 1697" [A Corner of Kent page 395] suggests that Solomon is the oldest of the four sons. [3]
