An inherited health condition
Haemochromatosis is a dietary Iron overload disorder, prevalent in Celtic people, particularly those of Irish heritage. If undiagnosed it can lead to serious organ damage, particularly the liver, heart and pancreas. However, if susceptible people are aware, especially early on in life, treatment is simple. i.e. venesection, (blood-letting) which removes the excess Iron gradually from the body. This is normally done under the Therapeutic section of the Red Cross.
As I am not a medical expert, I would highly recommend that anyone interested in this condition and it’s possibly highly dangerous implications if left untreated, should check out the relevant web sites below for proper information.
