In the name of God Amen

I George Hougham of Garden Row Saint Mary Newington in the County of Surrey Gentleman being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament (that is to say)
first I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses and the charges of proving and executing this my will fully paid and satisfied.
Then I give and bequeath upon trust unto Solomon Hougham of Aldersgate Street London Gentleman and Charles Hougham Of Aldersgate Street London Goldsmith all monies belonging to me that shall be in the three percent reduced bank annuities or any other of the public stocks or securities for moneys after payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses that they the said Solomon Hougham and Charles Hougham and the survivor of them and the executor administrator and assigns of such survivor do and shall from time to time pay the interest dividend and produce thereof as the same shall become due and payable unto my wife Sarah Hougham for and during the term of life or until she shall marry again
and from and after her decease or marriage of my said wife and in case my said wife shall happen to die or marry again in the lifetime of my daughter Mary Hougham and before she shall have attained the age of twenty one years then upon proof that they the said Solomon Hougham and Charles Hougham or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor shall and do pay the interest dividends or produce thereof for and towards the maintenance and education of the said daughter until she shall arrive to or attain her age of twenty one years and from and after the decease or marriage of my said wife and my said daughter shall have arrive to or attained her age of twenty one years then upon trust they the said Solomon Hougham and Charles Hougham or the survivor of them or the executors administrators or assigns of such survivor do and shall pay assign and transfer unto my said daughter Mary Hougham all such stocks funds or securities as aforesaid to and for her own sole use and benefit
but in case my said daughter Mary Hougham shall happen to die before she shall have attained the said age of twenty one years then upon trust to transfer or pay unto my brother Charles Mordaunt Hougham Purser in his majesties Naval service or his heirs all such stocks funds and securities as aforesaid together with the interest that shall be due for or an account of the same and aplied for the purpose aforesaid to and for his and their own sole use and benefit
also I give and unto my grandmother Mary Hougham of Canterbury widow the sum of ten pounds
also I give and bequeath unto my said wife all my ready money household furniture apparel plate linen and china to and for her own sole and absolute use and benefit
and I do so nominate constitute and appoint the said Solomon Hougham and Charles Hougham executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other will and wills by me at any time heretofore made and so I declare this to be my last will and testament and I do hereby declare my mind and will to be that neither of my said executors shall be answerable for the acts or deeds of the other of them but each of them for their own acts receipts and deeds only and that it shall be lawful for them to deduct and retain all such payments costs charges and expenses as they or any of them shall be at or put to in and about the execution of this my will by witness whereof to this my will contained in two sheets of paper I have to the first thereof set my hand and to this last my hand and seal the thirteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three [13 August 1783]

This will was proved at London The eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand seven Hundred and eighty four [11 February 1784] before the worshipful George Jarvis Doctor of Laws master keeper or commissary of the prerogative court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oaths of Solomon Hougham and Charles Hougham the executors named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the deceased having been first sworn to administer
